The film traces the life of Harvard graduate Juan Segarra who, knowing the history of his island and its relations with the USA, becomes a member of Los Macheteros. This Porto Rican independence movement wants to achieve its goals through armed combat. Juan is aware that the struggle for a free Puerto Rico will lead to either jail or death.
